Three intersecting stories about the American opioid epidemic collide in this multi-narrative drama. The first storyline revolves around a Fentanyl smuggling operation between Canada and the United States, and the undercover DEA agent (Armie Hammer) tracking the traffickers. The second thread follows a university professor (Gary Oldman) who makes unexpected revelations about his employer, a drug company that is bringing a new, supposedly non-addictive painkiller to market. And finally, an architect (Evangeline Lilly) recovering from an OxyContin addiction sets out to track down the truth behind her teenage son’s involvement with narcotics.

All three central characters are on difficult, personal, and at times violent, journeys that expose how greed and profit are at the heart of the titular crisis. And we haven’t even mentioned the likes of Greg Kinnear, Luke Evans, Michelle Rodriguez and Lily-Rose Depp rounding up the all-star ensemble cast.
