Taylor Sheridan has made a name for himself writing gritty, character-driven thrillers such as Sicario and Hell or High Water. In 2017, he moved into the director’s chair for the first time with Wind River, and now he’s back for a second go with another lean, mean nail-biter of a film.
Haunted after failing to prevent the deaths of three young campers in a forest fire, firefighter Hannah (Angelina Jolie) is now serving her penance manning a lookout tower in the vast Montana wilderness. It’s there that she spots a young boy named Connor (Finn Little), on the run and alone in the middle of the woods.
Rescuing him could finally offer Hannah a chance at redemption, but that’s easier said than done thanks to the two cold-blooded assassins (Nicholas Hoult, Aiden Gillen) on Connor’s tail who will stop at nothing – including burning down the forest – to get their target.
