In 1978, Patrizia Reggiani (Lady Gaga) meets Maurizio Gucci (Adam Driver), the young heir to the formidable Italian fashion dynasty. The two fall in love, and it’s not long before they are married. Maurizio isn’t power-hungry, but Patrizia’s outsider ambitions soon begin to shake up the family, including Maurizio’s father (Jeremy Irons), his uncle and company chairman, Aldo (Al Pacino) and designer cousin, Paolo (Jared Leto). Over the next 20 years, everyone involved will see their fortunes change forever in this shocking true tale of love, betrayal, decadence, revenge, and ultimately, murder.
One of two (!) films that prolific, 83-year-old director Ridley Scott released in 2021, there’s no denying the fun watching this film’s operatic machinations unfold. With an A-list cast of scenery chewers all replete with their best exaggerated Italian accents, House of Gucci is cinematic camp at its best.
Oscar nominee in 2022 for Best Makeup and Hairstyling.
