When broke single mother Callie’s (Carrie Coon) estranged father dies, leaving her nothing more than a dilapidated farmhouse in the middle of nowhere, she has no choice but to move there with her kids. While 15-year-old Trevor (Finn Wolfhard) works hard to enamour himself to a waitress at a diner, 12-year-old science-obsessed loner Phoebe (Mckenna Grace) is left to her own devices to explore the house and her new town. Before long, she discovers her family’s connection to the original Ghostbusters and the secret legacy that her grandfather left behind.
This long awaited sequel to 1984’s Ghostbusters and 1989’s Ghostbusters II does not disappoint, injecting new blood into the franchise while also providing a warm, fuzzy dose of nostalgia. Being a family affair doesn’t hurt either, with lauded director Jason Reitman (Juno, Up in the Air) – son of original Ghostbusters director Ivan – taking up the reigns.
