The story begins in 1789 France, shortly before the French Revolution, where cordon bleu dining is strictly the domain of aristocrats. When the ambitious chef Manceron (Grégory Gadebois) serves an unapproved dish of his own creation, he is promptly dismissed. His pride wounded, he retreats to an infrequently-visited inn in the countryside to serve up common dishes such as vegetable soup. But when a mysterious woman (Isabelle Carré) arrives and offers to pay to become his apprentice, Manceron’s passion for fine cuisine is reignited, leading to the creation of France's very first restaurant.
Joining the ranks of films such as Chocolat and Babette's Feast in its joyous depiction of food preparation, this film is a delicious historical comedy which proves the adage that success is the best revenge. Be sure to make a dinner reservation ahead of time – you’ll be starving after seeing this!

It is 2001 and Argentina is in the depths of a financial crisis. But retired football star Fermin Pelassi (Ricardo Darin), now a service station owner in the sleepy provincial town of Alsina, has a plan. If he and some other townsfolk form a cooperative they can buy and restore an abandoned grain silo, creating much-needed jobs and revenue for the town.
Their hopes are dashed when the government freezes all bank assets, right after they have entrusted their sizeable deposit to a wily bank manager in the next town. Hearing rumours that their money has actually been stashed in a secret cache, Fermin and his band of stalwart underdogs decide to steal it back.
Featuring an all-star Argentinian cast led by the ever-reliable Darin, Heroic Losers is a hugely entertaining and cathartic romp that was also Argentina’s submission for the Best International Feature Film Oscar in 2020.
