It’s December 1991, and the British Royal Family is preparing to spend three days together celebrating Christmas at the Queen’s Sandringham Estate. Despite being ordained to keep up appearances amidst all of the feasting, hunting and other regimented rituals, Princess Diana (Kristen Stewart) is a woman in crisis. Her ten-year marriage to Prince Charles (Jack Farthing) has gone cold, as rumours of affairs and a divorce abound. She is under constant surveillance, and even her mental health is being called into question. Through all this, the people’s princess yearns more than ever for her life before marriage and finds herself drawn to her dilapidated old family home nearby.
Receiving a Best Actress Oscar nomination for her performance here, Kristen Stewart has never been better, delivering a masterful turn that is as much about what is visible on the surface as the pain quietly bubbling beneath. A bold, compassionate and unconventional take on the royal biopic.

In Red Rocket, innovative indie filmmaker Sean Baker (Tangerine, The Florida Project) once again turns to his favourite subject: the American underclass. His latest acclaimed film follows washed-up porn star and hustler Mikey Saber (Simon Rex), who returns penniless to the Texas hometown that was glad to see the back of him. Hoping to make a fresh start after nearly 20 years away, he begins living with his estranged wife and mother-in-law in exchange for doing household chores for them. Just when it seems this dysfunctional family might work, however, Mikey falls for Strawberry (Suzanna Son), the young cashier at his local doughnut shop, and starts right back into his old habits.
Rex, a successful actor, model, rapper and even former porn performer himself, has been perfectly cast in this witty yet warmly humane character study of a man who can’t escape himself.
