PRESENTED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE EMBASSY OF THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF IRAN
In prison for an unpaid debt, Rahim Soltani (Amir Jadidi) is granted a two-day leave so he can try and settle the matter with his creditor (Mohsen Tanabandeh), who also happens to be his brother-in-law. Things don't go as planned, however, and a well-intentioned good deed leads to a tangled mess that jeopardises Rahim’s chances of leaving jail permanently.
A Hero is the latest film from Asghar Farhadi, one of only a few directors in history to have won the Best Foreign Film Oscar more than once: for A Separation in 2012 and The Salesman in 2017. The master of the moral dilemma, Farhadi’s newest film has been no less lauded: it won the Grand Prix at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival, and is a riveting, weighty thriller well worth your time.
