Opera singer Tiriki Onus thought he knew his grandfather, Bill – until a newly unearthed 70-year-old silent film reel reveals a whole other side to the charismatic Yorta Yorta and Wiradjuri man from Victoria. As Tiriki journeys across Australia to find out more about the film reel’s origins, he finds himself falling down a rabbit hole of intrigue. And what he ultimately discovers is an untold story of activism, resistance, government conspiracies, and at one point, Walt Disney.

Bill Onus’ incredible life is vividly recreated here through archival footage, stunning animation and eyewitness accounts, as we learn about his fight for Aboriginal rights and, ultimately, the price of paid for speaking up for his people.
