After being belittled for five decades, 75-year-old Inkeri (Leena Uotila) hits her husband on the head with an iron frying pan and makes plans to bury him in the back yard. She prepares to face the rest of her life in prison – but not before embarking on one last road trip with her sisters, Raili (Seela Sella) and Sylvi (Saara Pakkasvirta). They embark on a wild ride to Koli National Park, which includes encounters with charming hitchhikers, their car breaking down and sinful dancing in a restaurant. Along the way, Inkeri comes across her old university writings and a former crush, reminding her of the dreams of her younger self.

A slightly demented, older relative of films like Bad Moms and Rough Night – with a mischievous side revelling in a grannies gone bad routine – Ladies in Steel has enough heart and some pain to add depth to this Finnish dramedy.
