Relying on the well-known fable of a pied piper luring rats away, so he befriends a group of talking rats and finds his very own pied piper to trick gullible townsfolk into paying them for their services. All goes swimmingly until they arrive in a far-flung village where a local bookworm (Emilia Clarke) threatens to expose their con.

In 1952, after his first cinema experience, young Sammy Fabelman (Mateo Zoryan Francis-DeFord) begins making home movies to understand the world. He’s encouraged by his pianist mother Mitzi (Michelle Williams) and reminded by his computer engineer father Burt (Paul Dano) that hobbies shouldn’t dominate his life. As he grows into a teenager (Gabriel LaBelle), his passion for filmmaking only intensifies, but his life is thrown into disarray when he uncovers a shattering family secret.

Loosely based on director Steven Spielberg’s own formative years, this semi-biographical coming-of-age tale is an ode of the power of film – and family.

Nominated for 7 Oscars in 2023, including Best Picture.
