Everything is looking up for Peter (Hugh Jackman), a successful lawyer who has just welcomed a baby boy with his new wife (Vanessa Kirby). But then his first wife (Laura Dern) gets in touch to say that their troubled 17-year-old son (Zen McGrath) wishes to stay with him for a while. Peter seizes the opportunity to care for his son as he wishes his own irresponsible father (Anthony Hopkins) had done for him, but in trying to correct the past, will he lose sight of the present?
