As an adult, Sophie (Celia Rowlson-Hall) attempts to reconcile her childhood memories of her loving and idealistic father, including the last holiday they took together at a fading Turkish vacation resort 20 years earlier. There, as an 11-year-old, young Sophie (brilliant newcomer Frankie Corio) slowly joins the world of adolescence as her father, Calum (Paul Mescal), seems to struggle under the weight of life outside of single parenthood.

Heralded by many as one of the best films of the year, the devastating directorial debut from Charlotte Wells is a revelatory, astonishing triumph which lingers long after the credits have rolled.

Oscar nominee in 2023 for Best Actor (Paul Mescal).
