PRESENTED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ACT SHELTER – FOLLOWED BY Q&A WITH DIRECTOR ROWAN DEVEREUX AND PRODUCER SOPHIE SAVILLE
When four millennial housemates learn that they are soon to be evicted from their long-time rental house in Sydney’s inner west, they embark on a desperate hunt for a new affordable home. But this is easier said than done as they find themselves buffeted about in the gig economy while facing both family and romantic calamities.
Described as the antithesis of The Castle, this micro-budgeted Australian indie is an all-too-timely comedy about the horrors of the current rental market, offering a relatable and hilarious perspective for anyone who’s ever had to rent a place. Written and directed by Rowan Devereux, it offers a deft mix of quirky comedy and serious drama, and even took home the audience choice award at the Sydney Film Festival in 2022.
