PRESENTED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE HIGH COMMSSION OF THE KINGDOM OF TONGA
Tongan rugby superfan Maka (John-Paul Foliaki) and his cousin Veni (Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi) will do whatever it takes to get tickets to most important match of their lives: the Tonga v France game of the 2011 Rugby World Cup. After exhausting all conventional (and some unconventional) methods, they offer to perform with their traditional Tongan brass marching band as part of the pre-match entertainment. The only problem: the band doesn’t exist. With only four weeks to go, Maka must rope in all manner of cousins and family friends to learn how to march and play brass instruments – or risk embarrassing the entire Tongan community in front of the world. No pressure.
Sometimes all you need is an unabashed feel-good film; on that front, Red, White and Brass absolutely delivers. Based on amazing true events, this is a hilarious and heart-warming story of family, friendship and community.
