Twenty years ago, Mean Girls became an instant teen movie classic with its insightful, hilarious take on the hierarchy of American high schools. So much so that writer Tina Fey reinvented the phenomenon as a hit Broadway musical in 2018, which has now come full circle with a totally fetch feature-film adaptation of its own.
When Cady Heron (Angourie Rice) begins attending North Shore High School after being homeschooled all her life, she immediately learns that the school’s social food chain is dominated by an elite group of popular girls known as ‘The Plastics’, ruled by queen bee Regina George (Reneé Rapp). When Cady makes the mistake of falling for Regina’s ex-boyfriend, she finds herself in Regina’s crosshairs and must learn how to survive the most cutthroat jungle of all: high school.
