In the midst of a dry summer, two best friends – self-important author Leon (Thomas Schubert) and photographer Felix (Langston Uibel) – travel to a holiday home on the Baltic Coast. Much to their surprise, they arrive to find it already inhabited by a free-spirited young woman named Nadja (Paula Beer), much to the chagrin of the thoroughly miserable Leon, who is fretfully attempting to complete his second novel. And as reports and warnings of forest fires raging nearby continue to intensify, so too do the emotions at the house.

Winner of the Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize at the 2023 Berlin International Film Festival, the latest film from writer-director Christian Petzold (Phoenix, Transit) combines breezily entertaining relationship drama with the dark undercurrents of his previous work.
