For the past year, German novelist Sandra (Sandra Hüller) has lived a secluded life in a remote chalet in the French alps with her husband, Samuel (Samuel Theis), and their eleven-year-old son, Daniel (Milo Machado Graner). But when Samuel is found lying dead in the snow outside their home with a fatal wound on his head, the police question whether it was an accident, suicide or murder. What follows is not just an investigation into the circumstances of his death but a forensic dissection of Sandra and Samuel’s complicated marriage.

Part murder mystery, part courtroom drama, and altogether compulsively watchable, Anatomy of a Fall is one of the very best and acclaimed films of the year. And Sandra Hüller, who also delivers a fantastic performance in The Zone Of Interest, is absolutely phenomenal.
