In the magical kingdom of Rosas on an island in the Mediterranean Sea, the benevolent King Magnifico (Chris Pine) routinely grants his subjects their greatest desires using his powers of sorcery. Spirited 17-year-old Asha (Ariana DeBose) wants nothing more than to take on an apprenticeship under King Magnifico, but when she questions his methods, he rejects her and refuses to grant any of her family members’ wishes. Distraught, she makes a wish on a star instead and gets more than she bargained for when the star descends from the sky to aid her in her quest to change the status quo.
Released to coincide with Disney’s centennial last year, this musical fantasy is a beautifully animated nostalgia trip, packed with references to many of the studio’s classics from throughout its 100-year history.

One night in London, lonely writer Adam (Andrew Scott) has a chance encounter with a mysterious neighbour named Harry (Paul Mescal). Just as a relationship begins to develop between them, Adam finds himself preoccupied with memories of the past and drawn back to the suburban town where he grew up. More specifically, he returns to his childhood home, where his dead parents (Claire Foy, Jamie Bell) still appear to be living, just as they were 30 years prior. As memories and reality collide and blur, Adam seizes the opportunity to reconnect with them and resolve issues that have plagued him all his life.
Acclaimed British filmmaker Andrew Haigh (45 Years, Weekend) adds to an already-impressive body of work with gorgeous, tender drama that is beautiful both inside and out, featuring standout work from indie darlings Scott and Mescal.
