In 1984, while on a family vacation at a remote village in the Italian Alps, 11-year-old Pietro befriends Bruno. Over the course of the summer, the two boys become inseparable – until the stark reality of their vastly different lives drives a wedge between them.

Their paths cross again in adulthood when Pietro (Luca Marinelli) returns to the village, which Bruno (Alessandro Broghi) has never left. As the two set about building a mountain cabin to fulfil Pietro’s father’s last wishes, they reconcile the regrets of the past.
