In the 1920s, the quiet English seaside town of Littlehampton was scandalised when its residents began receiving anonymous letters packed with profanities. The missives were so offensive – and numerous – that national uproar ensued, prompting a police investigation and, eventually, a series of trials.
Caught up in this onslaught of obscenity are two neighbours: conservative local Edith (Olivia Colman) and rowdy Irish migrant Rose (Jessie Buckley). Though they were once close, a falling out has pitted them against each other. And with Edith on receiving end of the letters, Rose becomes the number one suspect – but appearances can be deceiving.
Based on absurd true events, Wicked Little Letters is a darkly comic drama with a splendid cast which entertainingly explores a primitive precursor to today’s all-too-common practice of trolling.

From hectic early beginnings in Camden in the early 2000s to global adoration – and back again – this is a celebration of the storied life of British singer-songwriter Amy Winehouse (Marisa Abela), which was tragically cut short in 2011 at the age of 27 due to alcohol poisoning. Offering an unflinching, unapologetic look at the extraordinarily talented woman behind the music, the film details Amy’s struggles with global fame, substance abuse, and her rocky relationship with husband Blake Fielder-Civil (Jack O’Connell), which inspired the 2006 album of the title.
Relative unknown Abela takes on the daunting task of playing the iconic Winehouse in this vibrant biopic which serves as a powerful tribute to a once-in-a-generation talent. And of course, the soundtrack has no shortage of Winehouse’s soul-stirring music.
