Director Stéphane Brizé’s tender and evocative romance follows two former lovers – Mathieu (Guillaume Canet) and Alice (Alba Rohrwacher) – who unexpectedly reconnect in a sleepy Breton holiday town.

Approaching his 50th birthday, Mathieu, a successful actor, is battling a crisis of confidence and seeks refuge at a luxury spa – but his fame makes it impossible for him to escape the public eye. When Alice, now a wife and mother, learns he’s nearby, they agree to meet. Their reunion reopens old wounds while also stirring up unresolved feelings from their past relationship.

Beautifully written and sensitively acted, this exquisite French film explores themes of missed opportunities and the complexities of love with subtlety, emotional depth and wry humour. An absolute delight.
