In 1995, 17-year-old Zahia Ziouani (Oulaya Amamra) and her twin sister Fettouma (Lina El Arabi) are chasing dreams of classical music careers despite the odds stacked against them. Living in the underprivileged suburbs of Paris and with their Algerian heritage, the sisters find themselves facing numerous challenges and roadblocks on their journey to becoming an orchestra conductor and a cellist, respectively. Unyielding in their pursuit, they decide to form their own orchestra – Divertimento – a bold attempt to break from tradition and change the game.
Inspired by the real-life story of Zahia Ziouani, one of the few renowned female conductors in the world, this passionate French drama highlights the power of perseverance, family, and the transformative force of music.
