PRESENTED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE ANU LGBTQIA+ ALUMNI NETWORK IN CELEBRATION OF WEAR IT PURPLE DAY 2025
Cultures collide in this heartwarming and humorous exploration of modern relationships, identity and acceptance. The film follows Naveen (Karan Soni), a mild-mannered Indian-American doctor who is finally about to take the next step in his relationship by introducing his fiancé to his family. The only problem is that his fiancé is Jay (Jonathan Groff), a white orphaned man who was adopted as a child by an Indian family. While Naveen's traditional family has long since accepted his sexuality, meeting Jay brings a new set of comedic challenges and surprising revelations – amplified by the added pressure of planning a grand Indian wedding.
Based on Madhuri Shekar's critically acclaimed play, A Nice Indian Boy has been charming audiences since it premiered at SXSW in 2024. Featuring a wonderful ensemble cast appealingly and tenderly led by Soni and Groff, you won’t want to miss this infectiously enjoyable celebration of life and love.
