March 31, 1943. On the opening night of the new Broadway musical Oklahoma!, lyricist Lorenz Hart (Ethan Hawke) retreats to Sardi's restaurant and finds himself reflecting on his personal and professional shortcomings. Struggling with alcoholism and the fading spotlight, he attempts to reconcile his complex partnership with his former creative partner, composer Richard Rodgers (Andrew Scott), who has found massive success with a new collaborator. Over the course of the night, Hart also intends to fully win the heart of would-be stage designer Elizabeth Weiland (Margaret Qualley).

Based on letters and memoirs from the era, the film’s Oscar-nominated screenplay captures the vibrant atmosphere of New York’s theatre scene while offering a melancholic portrait of a brilliant artist in decline. For his latest collaboration with longtime collaborator Richard Linklater, Hawke delivers a transformative, career-best performance as the witty (and diminutive) Hart, which has so far earned him many accolades, including an Oscar nomination for Best Actor.

In 1946, legendary Finnish ex-commando Aatami Korpi (Jorma Tommila) seeks a quiet life while attempting to rebuild his late family’s home in their honour. His short-lived peace is shattered, however, when the brutal Soviet Red Army officer (Stephen Lang) responsible for his family's murder returns to finish what he started. Forced back into a life he hoped to leave behind, Korpi must call on his near-superhuman "sisu" – a unique Finnish brand of stoic determination – to wage an unhinged one-man, cross-country war.

In Sisu: Road to Revenge, returning director Jalmari Helander ups the ante in this high-octane sequel to the 2022 action phenomenon, going harder and faster on all of the signature violence and dark humour which made the original a surprise international box office hit. Not only is this film a lean, mean adrenaline lover’s dream, but Tommila’s enduring performance as Korpi gives John Wick a run for his money.
