Bob Ferguson (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a former member of a far-left revolutionary group now living off-grid in a state of perpetually stoned paranoia with his teenaged daughter, Willa (Chase Infiniti). Their quiet, precarious peace is shattered, however, when a spectre from Bob’s past – the psychotic and corrupt Colonel Steven J. Lockjaw (Sean Penn) – resurfaces after sixteen years. And when Willa suddenly disappears, Bob must frantically call upon his radical past to rescue her.

Combining director Paul Thomas Anderson’s character-driven depth with visual spectacle with thrilling action, political satire and screwball comedy, his latest has quickly become one of his most acclaimed – and that’s saying something for the director of modern masterpieces like There Will Be Blood, Boogie Nights and Magnolia.
