Seeking to break a cycle of unfulfilling romances with unavailable partners, Lara (Pilar Fogliati) decides to embrace a life of independence. Her resolve is tested, however, when she crosses paths with a charming single father, Piero (Edoardo Leo). As the two get to know each other, the narrative cleverly visualises Lara's internal conflict through a series of competing "inner voices" – instinctive, romantic, and logical – that manifest as physical characters who bicker and brainstorm behind the scenes while guiding her every move. This playful exploration of the modern dating landscape examines whether true love is found by following one's heart or by listening to the cacophony of one's own mind.

Italian director Paolo Genovese (Perfect Strangers) returns with another conceptually inventive romantic comedy that literally takes audiences inside the minds of its protagonists. Affectionately compared to a live-action Inside Out for adults, Somebody to Love a gorgeously earnest exploration of finding someone whose inner chaos perfectly matches your own.
