George Hardy (Hugh Jackman) is a gentle shepherd with a peculiar habit: he spends every evening reading classic murder mysteries aloud to his flock. While he assumes they are merely comforted by the sound of his voice, the sheep are actually attentive students of the genre, debating clues long after he leaves.

So when George is found murdered with a spade through his chest, and the local constable (Nicholas Braun) proves utterly incompetent, the flock realise that the investigation is going nowhere. It's soon up to the flock – led the sharp Lily (voiced by Julia Louis-Dreyfus) and the burdened Mopple (voiced by Chris O'Dowd) – to solve the crime themselves. How hard can it be?

Based on Leonie Swann’s international bestseller Three Bags Full, this inventive whodunnit boasts a staggering ensemble cast, including Emma Thompson, Bryan Cranston, Patrick Stewart and more. (Not to mention Nicholas Galitzine who can also be seen wielding the Power of Grayskull as He-Man at 7:30 pm).

With its seamless blend of quirky humour and genuine emotional depth, you don't need to be a sleuth to conclude that The Sheep Detectives is a fun time at the movies for all ages.

Ten-year-old Adam Glen finds his life forever changed when he crash-lands on Earth, separated from his birthright: the Power Sword of Grayskull. Two decades later, the adult Adam (Nicholas Galitzine) rediscovers the sword and is transported back to his home planet of Eternia to fulfill his destiny as the legendary He-Man. Alongside the courageous Teela (Camila Mendes) and the ingenious Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba), Adam must lead a heroic rebellion against the tyrannical Skeletor (Jared Leto) and the sorceress Evil-Lyn (Alison Brie), who seek to seize the ancient secrets of Castle Grayskull for absolute galactic rule.

Directed by Travis Knight, this high-octane reboot of the Mattel franchise brings a modern, epic scale to the beloved 1980s franchise. Unlike the ill-fated 1987 attempt starring Dolph Lundgren, however, this film knows precisely what it wants to be. In the vein of Guardians of the Galaxy, this new take on the Masters of the Universe offers a giddy blend classic high-fantasy sorcery with grounded science fiction for a new generation of adventurers.
