After losing his job and being evicted, Cory (Travis Jeffery) and his pregnant wife (Maria Angelico) are forced to move back into his parents' (Linda Cropper, Michael Hurst) comfortable suburban home. The living arrangement quickly sours as his Baby Boomer parents, played by , become increasingly frustrated by their son's perceived lack of ambition. As the generational tension reaches a boiling point, Cory’s grip on reality begins to slip, leading him down a dark and unexpected path to achieve the 'success' his parents demand, ultimately detonating the family unit in a shocking climax.

Marking the brilliant feature directorial debut of Zoe Pepper, Birthright is a biting satirical thriller that will have you laughing and squirming with uncomfortable humour and its visceral portrayal of the psychological toll inflicted by the modern housing crisis. Shot on location in Western Australia, it offers a sharp critique of intergenerational wealth and the widening chasm of economic inequality.

Rick (Paul Rudd) is an American wedding singer living in Ireland whose dreams of stardom have long since faded into a quiet, suburban routine. His life takes an unexpected turn when he crosses paths with Danny (Nick Jonas), a former boy-band sensation desperately trying to reclaim his relevance. The two form an unlikely creative partnership, but harmony turns to discord when Danny steals one of Rick's songs and transforms it into a chart-topping comeback hit without credit. Rick must then fight to reclaim his intellectual property and his dignity in a cutthroat industry.

As you might expect from a film directed by John Carney (Once, Begin Again, Sing Street), this hilariously human dramedy features a catchy original soundtrack with some transcendent pop tunes that you're bound to be humming in the car on the way home. But not only that – there is real drama here too, with Rick and Danny's story serving as a poignant exploration of ambition, betrayal, and the enduring power of a simple, honest melody.
