Oscars at the ANU Film Group + Win Tickets to ROSEWATER!

The Oscars, Hollywood’s biggest night, is less than a week away and the ANU Film Group has got you covered with a massive 20 of this year’s nominees on our new programme!

And here’s what’s on the line-up for our second week of screenings:

• Tue 17 Feb @ 7:30 PM: JOHN WICK

John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is a legendary former assassin who comes out of his own self-imposed retirement to track down the gangsters that took everything from him.

• Thu 19 Feb @ 7:30 PM: THE IMITATION GAME

During the darkest days of WWII, mathematician Alan Turing (Benedict Cumberbatch) tries to crack the Enigma code with help from fellow code breakers. Nominated for 8 Oscars, including Best Picture.

• Fri 20 Feb @ 7:30 PM: INTERSTELLAR

With humanity facing extinction, a team of explorers set out on a journey beyond our solar system in search of a planet that can sustain life. Directed by Christopher Nolan. Nominated for 5 Oscars, including Best Visual Effects.

• Sat 21 Feb @ **7 PM**: ALEXANDER AND THE TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, NO GOOD, VERY BAD DAY + INTO THE WOODS

In ALEXANDER, a young boy for whom every day is a bad day uses his birthday wish to ‘share’ some of his bad luck with his disbelieving family. Starring Steve Carell, Jennifer Garner, and Ed Oxenbould (PAPER PLANES).

Then, in INTO THE WOODS (at approx. 8:30 PM), a witch tasks a childless baker and his wife with procuring magical items to reverse a curse, in this musical twist on beloved fairy tales. Nominated for 3 Oscars, including Best Supporting Actress (Meryl Streep).

Thanks to Transmission Films, we have tickets to give away to the thrilling new drama ROSEWATER, which is in cinemas from February 19.

ROSEWATER is the incredible true story of Canadian-Iranian journalist Maziar Bahari (Gael García Bernal), who was wrongfully arrested and detained in an Iranian prison for 118 days in 2009, where he was brutally interrogated under suspicion of being a spy. The topical film marks the screenwriting and directorial debut of The Daily Show host Jon Stewart. For a look at it’s trailer, click HERE.
