There’s bound to be something for everyone at the Film Group this week: from Helen Mirren and male strippers (not in the same film) to French thrillers and a Shaun the Sheep/Sean Penn double feature. What more could you possibly want?
• Tue 4 Aug @ 7:30 PM: WOMAN IN GOLD
A Jewish refugee (Helen Mirren) takes on the Austrian government to recover prized artwork that she believes was taken from her family by the Nazis during World War II. Also starring Ryan Reynolds, Daniel Brühl and Katie Holmes.
• Thu 6 Aug @ 7:30 PM: MAGIC MIKE XXL
Three years after bowing out of the stripper life at the top of his game, Mike (Channing Tatum) reunites with the Kings of Tampa and hits the road to put on one last blow-out performance at the stripper convention in Myrtle Beach.
• Fri 7 Aug @ 7:30 PM: THE CONNECTION + FRENCH RIVIERA
In THE CONNECTION, a French police magistrate (Jean Dujardin) embarks on a relentless crusade to dismantle the most notorious drug smuggling operation in history in this 70s-set crime thriller inspired by true events.
Then, in FRENCH RIVIERA (at approx. 9:45 PM), a young woman returns to the South of France to live with her casino magnate mother (Catherine Deneuve), and finds herself falling for an older man – as a war between rival casinos rages on.
• Sat 8 Aug @ **7 PM**: SHAUN THE SHEEP MOVIE + THE GUNMAN
In SHAUN THE SHEEP MOVIE, Shaun decides to take the day off from the farm but gets a little more action than he bargained for when the Farmer loses his memory in the Big City and it’s up to Shaun and his flock to get everyone back home.
Then, in THE GUNMAN (at approx. 8:30 PM) a different Shaun (Sean Penn) plays an ex-government assassin who must face his past and embark on a globe-spanning mission of revenge when his former employers attempt to have him killed.

Tickets for our annual fundraising trivia night on FRIDAY 28 AUGUST are available for purchase at all screenings from the laminator desk below the screen. Alternatively, you can also purchase your tickets online by emailing info@anufg.org.au
Tickets are $20 a head, which includes light finger food on the night. Tables of up to 10 are available, and you don’t even need to be a Film Group member to attend. Just be sure to book well in advance, as tickets are strictly limited.
And as anyone who’s ever been to one of our Trivia Nights will attest, it’s unlike any other trivia night out there. With so much fun, trivia and some truly great prizes in store – it’s anything but trivial!
