WHAT’S ON THIS WEEK
................................................................

Don’t forget that this Friday’s originally scheduled double feature of MAN UP and THE EMEPEROR’S NEW CLOTHES has been replaced due to an availability issue. In their place, we will be screening MADAME BOVARY and MISS JULIE.

Also on this week: romance meets organised crime in Italian satire THE MAFIA KILLS ONLY IN SUMMER; six darkly comedic stories of revenge converge in the Oscar-nominated WILD TALES; a tragic look at a lost musical talent in acclaimed documentary AMY; and a love story with a twist in THE AGE OF ADALINE.

• Tue 18 Aug @ 7:30 PM: THE MAFIA KILLS ONLY IN SUMMER

A young boy tries to win the affections of his childhood crush, while growing up as part of a Mafia family amidst corruption and violence in 1970s Sicily in this award-winning Italian satirical romantic comedy.

• Thu 20 Aug @ 7:30 PM: WILD TALES

**This screening proudly presented by the Embassy of Spain in Canberra**

Six standalone short films united by a common theme of violence and vengeance make up this highly acclaimed black comedy anthology film about people driven to losing control. Oscar nominee for Best Foreign Language Film.

• Fri 21 Aug @ 7:30 PM: MADAME BOVARY + MISS JULIE

In MADAME BOVARY, a young woman (Mia Wasikowska) who impulsively marries a small-town doctor soon becomes bored with her new life and begins to seek excitement and status outside the bonds of marriage.

Then, in MISS JULIE (at approx. 9:30 PM), an unsettled aristocrat’s daughter (Jessica Chastain) encourages her father’s valet (Colin Farrell) to seduce her – leading to a compulsive game of seduction, manipulation and power.

• Sat 22 Aug @ **7 PM**: AMY + THE AGE OF ADALINE

In acclaimed documentary AMY, take a revealing look at the tragically short life of songwriter Amy Winehouse, who died of alcohol poisoning in 2011 at the young age of 27, in this powerful and untold story of a music icon.

Then, in THE AGE OF ADALINE (at approx. 9:15 PM), a young woman (Blake Lively) who has miraculously remained 29-years-old for almost eight decades meets a man who reawakens her passion for romance and desire to live.
