WHAT’S ON THIS WEEK
................................................................
At the Film Group this week, you can get shaken and stirred with the latest Bond film in SPECTRE. Or get swept away with four-time Oscar-nominated THE DANISH GIRL or Pixar’s latest family adventure in THE GOOD DINOSAUR. Or if it’s laughs you’re after, you’ll find plenty in both in SISTERS and SHE’S FUNNY THAT WAY.
And, finally, on Sunday – the exact date of our first programmed screening 50 years ago – join us as we celebrate our 50th birthday with a special screening of our most screened film: DR. STRANGELOVE!
• Thu 25 Feb @ 7:30 PM: SPECTRE
While M (Ralph Fiennes) battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, a cryptic message from 007’s (Daniel Craig) past sends him on a trail to uncover the sinister organisation known as SPECTRE, in James Bond’s 24th screen outing.
• Fri 26 Feb @ 7:30 PM: THE DANISH GIRL + SISTERS
In THE DANISH GIRL, in 1920s Copenhagen, after an artist (Alicia Vikander) asks her husband (Eddie Redmayne) to stand in for a female model, he finds himself developing an attraction for the female form and begins living life as a woman. Nominated for 4 Oscars, including Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress.
Then, in SISTERS (at approx. 9:30 PM), Tina Fey and Amy Poehler reunite to play two sisters who return to their hometown and look to recapture their glory days by throwing one final high-school-style party for their former classmates.
• Sat 27 Feb @ **7 PM**: THE GOOD DINOSAUR + SHE’S FUNNY THAT WAY
In Pixar’s THE GOOD DINOSAUR, in an alternate timeline where Earth was never hit by an asteroid and dinosaurs never became extinct, an orphaned and lost young dinosaur named Arlo unexpectedly befriends a human caveboy.
Then, in SHE’S FUNNY THAT WAY (at approx. 8:45 PM), a Broadway playwright (Owen Wilson) discovers a complicated love triangle between his wife, her ex-lover, and the call-girl-turned-actress that he has just cast in his latest play. Also starring Jennifer Aniston, Rhys Ifans and Imogen Poots.
