SUPPORT ANUFG AT THE CANBERRA SOUTHERN CROSS CLUB
................................................................

The ANU Film Group has teamed up with the Canberra Southern Cross Club to take part in their Community Rewards program. The CSCC has generously committed to giving back to community groups like ours by donating 10% of all food and beverage purchases made at any of their five locations to groups nominated by their members.

If you’re a CSCC member, all you have to do is nominate the ANU Film Group as your preferred community group by filling out THIS online form, and the Club does the rest whenever you spend!

For more information about the CSCC’s Community Rewards program, click HERE.

Finally, as a token of thanks for their support, the CSCC would also appreciate your help in voting for them in the ClubsACT People’s Choice Award for Club of the Year, which closes on September 8. All entrants get a chance to win a trip for two to Hamilton Island, so it could be a win-win for all involved. To find out more, click HERE.

WHAT’S ON THIS WEEK
................................................................

Lose yourself at the ANU Film Group this week for a week of films about disappearing people (and one fish), as we chase down a hiding Nazi, go on the run with thieving magicians, get lost in the desert, search the Outback for a missing person, find a fish named Dory, and get kidnapped by a giant!

• Tue 30 Aug @ 7:30 PM: REMEMBER

When an elderly Auschwitz survivor (Christopher Plummer) with dementia discovers that the Nazi soldier who murdered his family 70 years ago is living in America with an assumed identity, he goes in search of the fugitive to deliver long-delayed justice.

• Thu 1 Sep @ 7:30 PM: NOW YOU SEE ME 2

One year after outwitting the FBI and winning the public’s adoration with their magic spectacles, The Four Horsemen resurface when a ruthless tech prodigy forces them into pulling off their most impossible heist yet. Starring Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Daniel Radcliffe, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine.

• Fri 2 Sep @ 7:30 PM: QUEEN OF THE DESERT + GOLDSTONE

In QUEEN OF THE DESERT, discover the life of Gertrude Bell – traveller, writer, archaeologist, explorer – along with her journeys of love and loss in the Middle East during the early 20th century. Starring Nicole Kidman, James Franco, Robert Pattinson and Damian Lewis.

Then, in GOLDSTONE (at approx. 9:45 PM), an Indigenous detective arrives in the Outback town of Goldstone on a missing persons enquiry. What seems like a simple investigation soon unveils a web of crime that requires him to bury his differences and work with a young local cop.

• Sat 3 Sep @ **5 PM**: FINDING DORY

When friendly-but-forgetful blue tang fish Dory suddenly recalls her childhood memories, she sets out on an epic journey across the ocean to find her family and reunite with her loved ones, accompanied along the way by Nemo and Marlin – if they can keep up!

• Sat 3 Sep @ **7 PM**: THE BFG

A girl named Sophie encounters the Big Friendly Giant who, despite his intimidating appearance, turns out to be a kind-hearted soul who has been outcast by the other giants because he refuses to eat young boys and girls. Directed by Steven Spielberg and based on the beloved novel by Roald Dahl.
