Looking for something fun to do next Tuesday night? We've got just the thing for you: the ANU Film Group is making a return to The Phoenix Pub’s weekly quiz nights next week, and you’re all invited to come along!

DATE: Tuesday 14 March, 2017
TIME: 7:30 PM start
VENUE: The Phoenix Pub, 21 East Row (in the Civic Bus Interchange, near Platform 3)

Entry is free and everyone (non-members included) is welcome. There will be free passes and free drinks up for grabs throughout the night, so why not round up a few friends – or come along and make new ones – to enjoy a casual evening of movie trivia? You’re welcome!

This week, we feature this year’s Oscar winner for Best Supporting Actress, the biggest hit in the French Film Festival’s 27-year history, a prequel to a beloved Australian family film, Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt in a sci-fi romance, and a double feature of very different nocturnal animals!

The life of a thirty-something hairdresser rotates around his work and his family. But his life changes one morning when he meets the gaze of a grocery store clerk, and begins a search to uncover the truth behind their connection in this feel-good French comedy.

Denzel Washington directs and stars in this acclaimed adaption of the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning play about a working-class African-American father struggling with race relations while trying to raise his family in the 1950s. Academy Award winner for Best Supporting Actress (Viola Davis).

• Fri 10 Mar @ 7:30 PM: NOCTURNAL ANIMALS + AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON

In NOCTURNAL ANIMALS, an art gallery owner (Amy Adams) receives a manuscript for a new book from her estranged ex-husband (Jake Gyllenhaal). She soon finds herself haunted by the violent tale, which she interprets as a veiled threat.

Then, in the 1981 cult classic AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON (at approx. 9:30 PM), two American students on a walking tour of Britain are attacked by a werewolf that none of the locals will admit exists. Directed by John Landis.

Part way through its 120-year voyage, a travelling space colony transporting thousands of people malfunctions and two hibernation pods are prematurely opened. As a result, two passengers are awakened, still 90 years from their destination. Starring Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence.
