Our New Semester Two 2017 Programme!

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No – it’s our new Semester Two programme so drop whatever you’re doing and check it out now!

Our new programme has something for everyone: from SPIDER-MAN to KINGSMAN, and DUNKIRK to DESPICABLE ME, you’ll find a whopping 95 films screening between July 17 and November 25. And for those of you keeping track, yes, that is indeed more films than Semester One!

Semester Two officially kicks off on MONDAY 17 JULY with a free screening of TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT – just two days after our current semester concludes. If you’re not yet a member, what are you waiting for? Semester Two memberships are on sale from TODAY, and will include entry into all remaining Semester One screenings. With so many films on our new programme, we know there’s a lot to take in. Fortunately, we’ve put together a few highlights you won’t want to miss:

• TWO FILMS FOR THE PRICE OF NONE: we’ve got two free screenings coming up this semester – TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT on Monday 17 July, and WONDER WOMAN on Friday 28 July – so spread the word!

• ANNUAL TRIVIA NIGHT: our most exciting event – and primary fundraiser – is back on Saturday 25 August. Find out more at www.anufg.org.au/trivia. Tickets available for booking soon.

• FAMILY FILMS AT FIVE: more family-friendly films at family-friendly start times, including DESPICABLE ME 3, CARS 3 and CAPTAIN UNDERPANTS.

• CULT CLASSICS: the return of some of cinema’s most memorable films back on the big screen, including ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, THE WIZ and LOST IN TRANSLATION.

• EXCLUSIVE SCREENINGS: we’ve got films you won’t see anywhere else in Canberra, starting with the Cannes award-winning French thriller PERSONAL SHOPPER, starring Kristen Stewart.

A couple playing the lead roles in an Iranian production of Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman move into a new apartment, until a case of mistaken identity turns their peaceful lives upside down. This year's Oscar winner for Best Foreign Language Film. Written and directed by Asghar Farhadi (A SEPARATION).

• Sat 8 July @ **7 PM**: GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY: VOL. 2 + THE LIFE AQUATIC WITH STEVE ZISSOU

In GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY: VOL. 2, as they continue their adventures throughout the cosmos, a team of intergalactic misfits must fight to keep their newfound family together while unravelling the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista and Kurt Russell.

Then, in Wes Anderson’s THE LIFE AQUATIC, an eccentric oceanographer (Bill Murray) rallies a crew of oddballs – including his estranged wife, a journalist, an a man who may or may not be his son – to exact revenge on a mythical shark that killed his partner. Also starring Owen Wilson, Cate Blanchett and Jeff Goldblum.
