What's On This Week + Remember to Take Your Belongings

12th September, 2017

This week will be a short one due to the university’s non-teaching period and the Coombs Theatre being used for a conference this weekend. But we’ll be back with a full line-up next week, including a WWII triple feature – featuring DUNKIRK, CHURCHILL and THEIR FINEST – screening across two consecutive nights.

In the meantime, be sure to check out this week’s offerings: an Oscar-nominated Scandinavian comedy and an acclaimed Guatemalan drama in the vein of last year’s TANNA.

• TUE 12 SEP @ 7:30 PM: A MAN CALLED OVE

An ill-tempered retiree – who spends his days enforcing neighbourhood rules and visiting his wife’s grave – has just about given up on life when he develops an unlikely friendship with his boisterous new neighbours. Nominated for 2 Oscars, including Best Foreign Language Film.

** Presented in partnership with the Scandinavian Australian Association **

• WED 13 SEP @ 7:30 PM: IXCANUL (VOLCANO)

A 17-year-old Mayan girl who has lived her life on the slopes of an active volcano in Guatemala is about to enter into an arranged marriage. But she dreams of escaping to the United States and living in the big city – a desire that has significant repercussions for her family.

** Presented in partnership with the Embassy of Guatemala **

DON’T FORGET TO TAKE YOUR BELONGINGS!
................................................................

There have been a surprising amount of things left behind at screenings in recent weeks and our lost property cupboard is getting quite full!

If you have lost anything recently, send us an email or check with the Duty Manager at your next screening and we can let you know if we’ve found it. If the item is something of value (e.g. a wallet or mobile phone), it may have been handed over to ANU Security’s Lost and Found service for safekeeping.

In any event, please remember to check your seat and take all belongings – including mobile phones, wallets, keys, clothing, cushions, food/drink containers, spouses and children – with you when you leave the theatre. Thank you!
