It’s a short week of screenings as we head into the Easter break, but that’s not to say there aren’t some interesting and varied films on the programme. Not to mention a bonus screening courtesy of our friends at the ANU Mathematical Sciences Institute!

BONUS SCREENING: ‘X+Y’ ON THURSDAY 29 MARCH @ 7 PM
................................................................

Our friends at the ANU Mathematical Sciences Institute are hosting an alumni and friends Movie Night event at the Coombs Theatre this Thursday (March 29), and have been kind enough to extend an invitation to all ANU Film Group members to attend.

The event will begin at 6:30 PM with a reception in the Coombs Extension Lobby (directly opposite the front door of the Coombs Theatre), followed by a screening of the 2014 British maths drama X+Y at 7 PM.

X+Y tells the true story of a teenage mathematics prodigy named Nathan (Asa Butterfield) who has difficulty understanding people, but finds comfort in numbers. When he is chosen to represent the United Kingdom at the International Mathematical Olympiad, Nathan embarks on an unexpected and challenging journey. Also starring Rafe Spall, Sally Hawkins and Eddie Marsan.

The event is free for all ANUFG members to attend, but to assist with catering and attendee numbers, MSI has requested that everyone who wishes to attend please register beforehand by clicking HERE.

EVENT CHANGE: ‘MOUNTAIN’ ON FRIDAY 6 APRIL
................................................................

Due to a last-minute overseas trip on the date of our screening, director Jennifer Peedom will regretfully not be able to attend our Q&A screening of MOUNTAIN next week on Friday April 6.

As luck would have it, Jen will be travelling to Cambodia that very day for her work on a feature film. Fortunately for us, she will be sending along a filmed introduction for us, as well as a special behind-the-scenes look at the making of MOUNTAIN that will screen following the film.

We apologise for any disappointment caused, and hope that Jen will find time to make a return visit to the Film Group in the near future.
