Our Semester Two programme is now in full swing, with some outrageous comedies and a special Q&A event in store for the rest of the week.
• THU 19 JULY @ 7:30 PM: TAG (M, 100 min)
Once a year, five former classmates hit the ground running in an elaborate, no-holds-barred, cross-country game of tag that they’ve been playing since they were children, in this comedy based on an unbelievable true story. Starring Ed Helms, Jon Hamm, Jeremy Renner, Jake Johnson and Isla Fisher.
• FRI 20 JULY @ 7:30 PM: BLOCKERS (MA, 102 min) + AMERICAN PIE (MA, 95 min)
In BLOCKERS, three high school girls make a pact to lose their virginity on prom night. But when their overprotective parents uncover their plan, they join forces to do whatever it takes to stop their girls from sealing the deal. Starring Leslie Mann, Ike Barinholtz and John Cena.
Then head back in time to 1999 for another riotous and raunchy exploration of teen sexuality in AMERICAN PIE (at approx. 9:15 PM), in which four teenage boys enter a pact to lose their virginity by prom night. Will they achieve their goal of getting laid? Or will they learn a hilarious lesson in life and love instead?
• SAT 21 JULY @ **7 PM**: GURRUMUL (PG, 97 min) + Q&A
A stunning portrait of Geoffrey Gurrumul Yuninpingu, one of Australia's most celebrated and influential voices, who was born blind from birth and found purpose and meaning through music.
This documentary by director Paul Damien Williams explores what it means to be an Australian Indigenous artist in a modern world. He worked directly with Gurrumul for many years and was able to get his approval on the film just three days before the artist passed away on July 25th last year.
Paul will join us at the ANU Film Group on Saturday to introduce the film, and to discuss his work at a post-screening Q&A from approximately 8:40 PM. Don’t miss it!
** Presented in partnership with the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies Social Club **
