WHAT’S ON THIS WEEK
...............................................................

After last week’s lengthily-titled THE GUERNSEY LITERARY AND POTATO PEEL PIE SOCIETY, we’re keeping it simple with just single-word-titled films all week long!

This week’s offerings include an acclaimed Russian drama from the director of LEVIATHAN, Dwayne Johnson’s ode to the disaster thrillers of the 70/80s, a twist-filled crime comedy with an all-star cast, and an Aussie zombie horror-thriller starring Martin Freeman.

• THU 16 AUG @ 7:30 PM: LOVELESS (MA, 127 min)

A Russian couple going through a brutal divorce want nothing more than to start over with new lives – until their 12-year-old son disappears and they must work together to find him in this highly acclaimed, Russian Oscar nominee for Best Foreign Language Film.

** Presented in partnership with the Embassy of the Russian Federation **

• FRI 17 AUG @ 7:30 PM: GRINGO (MA, 110 min) + CARGO (MA, 104 min)

In GRINGO, a mild-mannered salesman (David Oyelowo) is sent to Mexico to deliver an experimental marijuana pill, but is kidnapped by a drug cartel, forcing him to cross the line from law-abiding citizen to wanted criminal. Also starring Charlize Theron and Joel Edgerton.

Then, in Australian zombie thriller CARGO (at approx. 9:30 PM), a father (Martin Freeman) stranded in the outback embarks on a desperate search for a new home for his infant child after he becomes infected by a virus that has already afflicted most of the world.

• SAT 18 AUG @ **7 PM**: SKYSCRAPER (M, 102 min) + EARTHQUAKE (PG, 122 min)

In SKYSCRAPER, a former FBI agent (Dwayne Johnson) is employed as a security consultant for the world’s tallest skyscraper in Hong Kong – and is forced into action when the building is attacked by terrorists and his wife and young daughter become trapped inside.

Then, in the 1974 disaster classic EARTHQUAKE (at approx. 8:45 PM) a group of Los Angeles residents struggle to survive after a catastrophic earthquake hits their city, causing chaos and destruction. Featuring an ensemble cast, including Charlton Heston and Ava Gardner.
