This year’s Annual General Meeting of the Australian Film Societies Federation (AFSF) will be taking place in Canberra on Saturday 27 October, and as a special treat, all members of the ANU Film Group have been invited to a preview screening of an upcoming film!
WOMAN AT WAR follows Halla, a 50-year-old choir conductor living in the Icelandic highlands, who leads a secret double life as an environmental activist waging war on corporations that threaten her beloved home. But the stakes are raised when she discovers that her dream to adopt a child is about to be realised, and she must choose between being a saviour or becoming a mother.
Directed by Icelandic auteur Benedikt Erlingsson (OF HORSES AND MEN), this warm-hearted and off-beat comedy screened at the Sydney and Melbourne International Film Festivals, and won a screenwriting award at Cannes earlier this year. It is also Iceland’s official submission for Best Foreign Language Film at next year’s Oscars.
WOMAN AT WAR isn’t set for a general theatrical release yet – but thanks to Hi-Gloss Entertainment, you can be the first in Canberra to see the film at this free preview screening for ANUFG members. Don’t miss it!
