And be sure to read on to find out how to win tickets to Dendy’s exclusive red carpet gala screening of Tom Hanks’ latest film, CAPTAIN PHILLIPS!
• Thu 10 Oct @ 8 PM: WE’RE THE MILLERS
A small-time pot dealer decides to create a fake family as part of his plan to avoid suspicion after he is tasked with moving a huge shipment of drugs into the U.S. from Mexico.
• Fri 11 Oct @ 8 PM: BEETLEJUICE followed by POLTERGEIST
Pay a visit to haunted houses of two very different kinds in the lead up to Halloween as part of our Ectoplasmic Eighties Retro Revivals night!
In director Tim Burton’s second feature film, BEETLEJUICE, a recently deceased young couple hire a devious "bio-exorcist" named Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton) to scare away the new owners of their former home.
Then, in POLTERGEIST (at approx. 9:45 PM), a family finds their home invaded by malevolent ghosts that abduct the family's youngest daughter. A true classic of the horror genre, the film is currently being remade for release in 2014.
• Sat 12 Oct @ **7 PM**: BEFORE MIDNIGHT followed by SONG FOR MARION
Director Richard Linklater completes his acclaimed trilogy in BEFORE MIDNIGHT, catching up with the now-married Jesse and Celine (Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy) nearly two decades after their chance meeting on a train bound for Vienna.
Then, in SONG FOR MARION (at approx. 9 PM), a grumpy pensioner (Terence Stamp) attempts to honour his terminally ill wife’s (Vanessa Redgrave) passion for performing by joining the unconventional local choir to which she used to belong.

WIN TICKETS TO DENDY’S GALA SCREENING OF ‘CAPTAIN PHILLIPS’!
...............................................................
Tom Hanks stars as CAPTAIN PHILLIPS in this pulse-pounding thriller based on the true story of the 2009 hijacking of an American cargo ship by Somali pirates. The powerful film examines the relationship between the ship’s commanding officer, Captain Richard Phillips (Hanks) and the Somali pirate captain who takes him hostage, as both men find themselves at the mercy of forces beyond their control.
Directed by Paul Greengrass (THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM, UNITED 93), the film had its world premiere at the New York Film Festival two weeks ago where it received rave reviews, particularly praising Hanks’ comeback performance as a strong contender for next year’s Oscar race.
CAPTAIN PHILLIPS is in cinemas on October 24, but we’ve got your chance to see it early on TUESDAY 22 OCTOBER at Dendy Canberra’s special red carpet gala screening. The exclusive event kicks off at 6:00 PM with pre-screening drinks and canapés, with the film itself beginning at 6:30 PM.
