We regret to inform you that the upcoming Indian Film Festival that was to run from March 27–31 has been cancelled, due to the last-minute withdrawal of support from the Indian High Commission. Fortunately, we will be able to independently proceed with two films as currently scheduled: the Canberra premiere of Australian-Indian musical HINDI-VINDI on March 27 and acclaimed international drama ALL WE IMAGINE AS LIGHT on March 28.
On Saturday 29 March, we will be screening THE FRENCH CONNECTION in tribute to the late, great Gene Hackman, who passed away recently under tragic circumstances. Widely regarded as one of the best crime films ever made, the 1971 classic also took home five Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Hackman, delvering one of his most iconic roles in a legendary career spanning decades. More about the tribute can be found by clicking here.
There will be no additional films scheduled on March 30 or 31.
Finally, as previously advised, our screening of A DIFFERENT MAN has moved from March 19 to Tuesday 25 March.
As such, the revised programme for the week of March 25–29 will now be as follows:
• TUE 25 MAR @ 7:30 PM: A DIFFERENT MAN
• THU 27 MAR @ 7:30 PM: HINDI-VINDI
• FRI 28 MAR @ 7:30 PM: ALL WE IMAGINE AS LIGHT
• SAT 29 MAR @ 7:30 PM: GENE HACKMAN TRIBUTE – THE FRENCH CONNECTION
We apologise for any and all inconvenience caused by these programme changes.
