The ANU Film Group will be hosting one of the Phoenix Pub’s legendary Quiz Nights on TUESDAY 22 SEPTEMBER at 7:30 PM and you’re all invited!
Conveniently located in the heart of the City at the bus interchange, the Phoenix is known for their old-fashioned pub atmosphere, hospitality and plethora of live events. And among the many highlights are their weekly Tuesday Quiz Nights, which we’ve been fortunate enough to be invited along to host for the very first time.

In GODS, a cardiac surgeon must overcome adverse circumstances in 1980s communist Poland to perform the country's very first human heart transplant. Exclusive Canberra premiere of the award-winning Polish box office hit!
Then, in WALESA: MAN OF HOPE (at approx. 9:30 PM) discover the true tale of the charismatic electrician who revolutionised Poland in the 1970s – founding the Solidarity movement and winning a Nobel Peace Prize along the way.

Then, in BANSKY DOES NEW YORK (at approx. 9 PM), infamous street artist Banksy’s month-long residency in New York is chronicled in this user-generated film pieced together from footage filmed by unsuspecting members of the public.

The event was a phenomenal success, and was our best-attended Trivia Night to date with over 200 people in attendance – not to mention a similarly record-breaking level of funds raised for the Film Group. We hope everyone there had as great a time as we had putting it all together… if not better!
For those of you who weren't able to make it along, not to worry – we’ll be back bigger and even better next year as part of our 50th Anniversary celebrations. The round required teams to creatively depict a randomly assigned Best Picture Oscar winner in play-doh form. And as you can see, the end results were definitely Oscar worthy!

We kick off the month of September with two of the year’s biggest blockbusters: Marvel’s ANT-MAN, and the latest in Arnie’s time-travelling robot saga, TERMINATOR GENISYS. Plus, THE INCREDIBLES are back on the big screen, while Kate Winslet cultivates roses (and romance) in A LITTLE CHAOS.

He’s back! Then, THE INCREDIBLES are back (at approx. 9 PM)! In Pixar’s Oscar-winning masterpiece, a family of superheroes – forced to adopt civilian identities and live a quiet suburban life – find themselves returning to a life of action when the safety of the world is threatened.

In addition to our usual cash payment option, we will now also be able to take Visa, MasterCard, and EFTPOS payments at the door for the very first time.
In order to offset the costs associated with providing this service, and to keep membership costs down, all card payments will incur a 2.9% surcharge.
This service will be available throughout Semester Two 2015 strictly on a trial basis, and will be reviewed at the end of the year.
