It’s hard to believe that’s there only one month left until the end of screenings for 2018 – and the end of our time in the Coombs Theatre!
In case you haven’t heard, the ANU Film Group will be moving to a new purpose-built home in 2019. If you haven’t already done so, you can read more about this in an FAQ we posted back in April.
We’re working hard to have more new information to share with you about the new venue, but in the meantime, we’re now taking suggestions for films you’d like to see on our Semester One 2019 programme!
Let us know what new releases, up-and-comers or classic favourites you’d like to see at the ANU Film Group next year by filling out a suggestion form at www.anufg.org.au/suggestions. We encourage you to submit your suggestions online, but if you wish to fill out a printed form, these are also available on request at any screening.
And be sure to mark your calendars for our Coombs Theatre Farewell event on SUNDAY 25 NOVEMBER where we’ll be saying goodbye to our home for the past 50 years. More details to be announced next week!

We regret to inform you that our last scheduled film of the semester, MOWGLI, is no longer available for us to screen, as it was recently acquired by Netflix for release in 2019. In its place on Saturday 24 November, we will instead be screening director Bruce Beresford’s latest film, Australian comedy-drama LADIES IN BLACK.
Set in 1959 Sydney, the film follows a schoolgirl (Angourie Rice) who takes a summer job at a prestigious department store where her fellow saleswomen open her eyes to a fast-changing world beyond her sheltered existence. Also starring Julia Ormond, Rachael Taylor, Ryan Corr and Shane Jacobson, the film is a feel-good throwback to a bygone era – and the perfect dose of nostalgia for what is likely to be the ANU Film Group’s final screening in the Coombs Theatre.
LADIES IN BLACK will screen on Saturday 24 November at 7 PM, and will be a ‘No Guests’ screening. CHRISTOPHER ROBIN will also be screening on the same day at 5 PM as originally scheduled.
